Heres an update on the Strange Days Shop.

It dosent seem like much, but its been a lot of work.
I wanted more light and power out on the shop floor cause I was tired of dragging out extension cords. I hit on an idea to provide light, and power as well as some class to the shop.
I added street light power poles (as well as a curb and sidewalk to the "city" inside my shop
I found some post yard lights at a local supplier, and haggled the price down on a group of four. They're kinda short, so I lifted them up on a 6 sided base fabricated out of 1/8 in steel

I welded these up and cut out for 220, and 110 power outlets on the side of them. I cut 1 foot holes in the shop floor, and sunk the bases in the holes. I then ran conduit and 3 circuits from base to base (lights, 110. 220)
Heres a pic of a finished base with the lamp post attached.

The condiut was poured into a curb that stands 1 1/2 inches above the shop floor using a 50/50 mixture of mortar and concrete mixed with elmers concrete binder. It worked REALLY nice!

Then came the hard part. Laying 600 paving bricks in a herringbone pattern between the curb and the buildings. They're not fully grouted yet, but you get the idea from the pics.

We made a set of doors for the fire station out of some old T111 siding (painted em red cause , well, Its a fire station !
Then I carved the year 1925 out of wood, poured colored mortar over the carving, pulled out the numbers, and ended up with a block to inset below the station belltower. Its not perfect, but looks ok from a distance.

So heres what it looks like as of today... I'll keep posting as things change,

Your street scene is awesome. I don't have the room or ceiling height for anything like that in my shop, but I did do an old western street scene at the haunted house I direct, it was a lot of fun building it as well.

That's amazing. What a cool idea. It looks a lot like the inside of NY, NY in Vegas. Great work!

That is very impressive and I must say, a breath of fresh air. My wife and I just moved to Missoula a year ago and its been somewhat disappointing to see that it just doesn't seem like there are all that many "car guys" here as there were in the Billings area where we came from. At least I dont notice as many cars in the back alleys or folks out cruizin. I notice you two (Toymont and Chaz) on the HAMB a lot. We are both just getting settled into the area and our new jobs so it will be nice to get out and do some car things this summer. I'll keep my eye out for that nasty coupe and introduce myself sometime. Great work on that shop of yours.

Regards,
Woodsy
