Strange Facom "wrenches" ?

Last year I bought a used rollaway and chest, must have tools in it from most every brand known to man. Amongst them are these strange Facom "wrenches". Do they have a special purpose? Seems the more common type with a flex socket and open end wrench would be more useful. Does anyone use these?

I think the're more common in europe than america .I think Craftsman use to have some like that .

Smallest is 8mm, I think the largest is 17mm, don't remember all the ones in between, there are some skips. Can get sizes tomorrow. All are metric.

The two I have are 19 & 24.

The wrench young_buck linked to on Amazon.com is the Facom 75/76 series "Open Angle socket" style wrench. Not sure but the picture 454ragtop posted makes his wrenches look like regular bent double ended socket wrenches. The socket head on long end would be used for deep nuts were you might use a socket and extension today, or for quick turning like with a hex wrench. Martin still makes offset socket wrenches similar to those but without the socket on the long end. There also more comfortable to use than wrenches with a flat beam.

Sorry just looked through Ebay france it appears those are the earlier series 72 Facom wrenches. The 2008 facom catalog doesn't list them so they must have been discontinued before then.

I've got a 5/16 (6-point, both ends) one of these. EMC used to put them in Symmetrix cabinets, that's where I got mine...

I recently picked up a set of each in metric and standard:

I ended up keeping the standard set, but traded the metrics. They are a well made tool, although I am not sure how useful they will be. I mainly kept the SAE set to see how well they would serve in the place of a deep offset box wrench, but haven't actually used them yet.
