Strange Pliers what is it?

Have a strange, crudely finished pair of pliers that I can't figure out what the us is. Anybody have an idea?

Looks like ear tagging pliers for hogs or cattle.

I would say ear tag also.

I grew up calling them hog ring pliers

I think they are hog ring pliers used for upholstery. Ear tag pliers usually have a piercing point on them.

Nope, those are not hog ring pliers. They are obviously purpose made for a specific task, but hog ringing upholstery is not it. What they are for, I do not know.

Hog rings are also used to attach chain link or mesh fencing to tension wire.
