I placed an order back in early July for some Wera items & then played the waiting game. I grew impatient & cancelled the order & then got an e-mail about wasting their time & making it difficult to keep prices low. But yesterday when I got home from work I had a small package in the mail from them. It was part of my original order, an adapter & some insert bits & a handwritten note saying these items were staged for shipment & that it was less costly to just mail them than return them to inventory. Mind you, my money had already been refunded. I guess maybe i'll order some more stuff in the future from them as long as I can wait for it. At least the guy seems to be trying.

How long did you wait before canceling the order? If it was a reasonable amount of time then it is plain rude that they sent you that email.

It doesn't matter if he cancelled the order the day after placing it, that's just poor customer service.

I could totally understand a policy that states that there will be a restocking fee if you cancel it after it's shipped and you have to return merchandise, but getting an email like that is uncalled for.

They're right about one thing, though - it's going to be hard to keep prices down when you treat customers poorly and they post about it so that some of us avoid them like the plague.

With the "On demand" inventory model of operations that is becoming prevalent. All buisnesses are basically drop shippers.

The problem with Chad's is that they are NOT drop shippers. You make an order with them, and they order the items they don't stock, if they stock anything, directly from Wiha or Wera, and Wiha etc ships to them, and they ship to you. Most of the delay seems to be Wiha followed by the double shipping time.

The other thing that could be going on is that they sit on orders until reaching some minimum for a discount from Wiha.

Chad's seem like nice people, just not very good in business practices.

I agree, hard to avoid the dropship or doubleship these days.

I just always ask what is available now? on the phone..
It must be hard at inventory tax time to sit on bazillions of instock german whatzits that you sell three of a year. Not a modern business model.
you just gotta plan ahead for those german tools!

Knipex they stock all that of course.

although I have noticed that wiha, wera, knipex, felo, witte, schroder etc. are showing up more often in places like sears, amazon, so something must be cooking in that market.
chads also appears to be dropping or backing off a couple of their brands (re clearance sales).

Felo is being distributed by Bondhus, which explains why they're more readily available in the US these days. I don't know about the others.
