Strange saw

Any ideas regarding this unusual saw? Teeth appear to be hand-cut. Possibly used for scoring blocks of ice for breaking into slabs or smaller pieces, or maybe starting grooves in boards, etc. prior to engaging with a larger saw?

The blade is installed backwards on yours. It should cut on the push stroke.

Cool tool.

In the catalog, blade looks uniformly neutral, maybe slightly push.

On mine, I think the teeth are installed push, but a friend has one with teeth changing in the n middle of the plate, and another with two equal handles on a split plate. In the work world, I’d guess being able to reverse them makes sense.

Very cool; and a great video! Nice $5.00 yard sale find for the vintage tool shelf in my man cave
