I have a Snap-on 6" extension #M-60-6 that I thought was a 1/4" but it will not fit on a 1/4" ratchet, did Snap-on maybe make a Metric or strange size sockets ratchets and extensions? I also have some Plomb breaker bar, extension and sockets that are the same size. Does anyone know anything about this size.

9/32" drive was THE standard small drive size before WWII. It was replaced by 1/4" drive as the new standard.

9/32 was a common size as stated above

7/16 was used by some folks early on, also and 5/8 was popular in industrial setting.

I'm sure glad we got standardized. Even though we are all finally going metric, the rest of the world seems to have adapted our drive sizes. 6.3, 12.7mm must seem weird to them.
