Strange Sockets

Here at school we have two diferent sockets that we do not know what they are used for. One says oil socket on the side so assume it is for a drain plug of some sort. It was made in Taiwan. The other style is like a 6 point with a ridge at each point. We have these mad in the U.S. and Taiwan. Anyone know the specific application of these. The school started in the 50s and used to have an Auto Tech Program.

I may be wrong but the one with the ridges looks like it could be used for solenoids like those found on a high pressure diesel pump. Not sure about the other "oil" one though. Hope it helps.
