I was reading a copy of the Gristmill, the publication of the mid-west tool collectors association, which I recently joined. I am a neophyte to tool collecting, I just love old stuff and enjoy learning about it. There was an article about handsaws in the Gristmill which was very informative and I happened to see an old handsaw in an antique store that was quite similar to the ones described in the article. The proprietor of the store saw me inspecting the saw and pulled a large orange book from behind the counter, "If you like that old saw you might like this" she said.
The book was a wholesale hardware catalog from 1937-38...fascinating stuff. I had to purchase it! Great descriptions and pictures of the tools available at the time, along with stoves, fencing, tires, toys, and just about anything else you can imagine. Has anyone seen one of these before?
I am willing to look up any questions or possible information research about tools if anyone is interested.
