Thanks. It's the lower level of an old barn. I had to do a lot of work to get that floor strong again.

Upstairs loft is unfinished space. I use if for entertainment, parties, storage. Yes it does have incredible potential!

did I hear someone say "barn"? :) There's a few of us barn junkies on this board (including me).

I'd love to hear about the restoration work you've done, and would of course love to see more pics, outside/upstairs etc. Really cool!!!

(also, I may be alone on this, but I really prefer pics saved to this board rather than external links)

Restoration work revoled around floor and subfloor which had a lot of rot. I had to go to a local lumber mill to source the subfloor material which was true 2 inch thick pine boards. I used spruce since it was first off available and second off affordable. The floor boards ("finish" floor) was just standard 1x pine. As you can see from the photos most of the floor is original as mostly corners were involved and I re-used a lot of the origi al flooring. I found some pretty interesting artifacts in the soil under the barn (crawlspace) which had been undisturbed for 150 years with the exception of some repairs which had been done in the distant past. I found glass bottles, pottery, rotting leather boots, a brass buckle among other things! I'd like to post directly to the sit but for the next couple of weeks I'm using this iPhone thing as a computer is not available for me to Shri k the images enough to be able to post to forum.

artifacts... I totally know what you mean. I have saved a bunch of neat little things along the way too. I'll have to take a pic once I'm a little more organized. Anyhow, once again, really cool spot you have going there :)

Thanks for the compliment rieferman. I've been reading through your thread and I have to say that the compliments mean a lot from someone like you. Nice job on the barn. Looks like you'll be ready to use it soon!
