I got a set of vintage aluminum mag wheels for cheap.Someone painted the whole wheel black. What should I use to remove the paint?I thought about Easyoff oven cleaner, but I don't know if it will harm the aluminum.Paint stripper maybe?Glass bead blaster?I thought I'd ask you guys to see if any of you have had this problem. Thanks for any help you can give me.

"Aircraft Paint Remover" is what you need. It is commonly available at auto supply stores.

Be careful... Easy Off will etch the aluminum. if that is the look you want it will work but, if you plan to polish, the etching will take more sanding to get out. The Aircraft Stripper will work well, just don't let it sit to long without neutralizing it.

Know anyone with a hot acid bath? An engine machine shop should have one....same thing they dip their AL heads in.

I got a period correct L88 intake manifold baking soda blasted.
And also some vintage minilite racing wheels that were painted.

They all came up like a brand new castings.
Soda blasting will dull any polishing, but a simple re-polish will remedy this

Simple green will take the paint off and not hurt the metal.
