I'm picking up a vintage drill press and wish to remove all old paint from it. What have proven to be the best methods and materials to use for this process?
I use glass bead blasting in a blast cabinet on anything that ain't soft, like Packard said. Glass bead will also strip rust away without too much metal removal. If you don't have a blast cabinet a wire cup brush on a side grinder will work also.
Actually another option if you don't have a blast cabinet, would be a combination of the paint stripper these guys mentioned and a cup wire brush. Might be messy, but you could really strip some paint.
Oh man, I'd forgotten about a needle scaler. Forget what I said get the needle scaler. I used mine on a Rockwell metal lathe I'm restoring, it's a beast.
