:headscrat Hey guys, Im new here with a question, I put down a epoxy floor about 10 years ago & its starting to chip in a couple of places. I want to repaint again but how do i prep this floor, when i go to scrape chipped area it just keeps chipping up further. when i getit to stop chipping do i etch it somehow with a acid? Thanks for any tips.:thumbup:

If it keeps coming up if you fool with it, then you had adhesion problems the first time. More than likely, do to moisture, or incomplete prep.

Typically, a chipped epoxy floor is spot patched with opoxy where you have chips and breaks, then a complete fresh coat is applied to the entire floor.

In this case, if you did have adhesion problems, you will probably be best to find a method to completely remove it.

Id contact the manufacturer, to see if they suggest a specific chemical method, or physical method.

The way the shotblaster ground down my bare floor, I'm pretty sure it would remove all epoxy to the point where you have a good surface to apply new epoxy. I dont think I'd shotblast unless you were removing epoxy from the entire floor.
