here's the deal, I've got a set of 3/8 cheapo HF impact extensions, and it seems like I lose a ton of power when i put them on my impact (IR 2115MAX). Is this just normal, or will a higher quality snap on/Mac/Sk transmit more power to the socket? It's annoying to get the length I need, and then not have the balls to break it loose, then i have to go back to the tool box, grab a ratchet, break it loose, and finally spin it out with the impact. Plus, There are some places that the impact fits better than a long ratchet because i don't need any room to swing it. You guys have any input for me?

You lose impact action via length. You can retain some power from thicker and stronger extensions. From what I've found, you need a top shelf impact wrench coupled with the shortest possible extension to get by. Anything longer than 6", expect to have to break the bolt loose by hand first. There are long impact extensions that work great, but they are not cheap. Matco makes some extra thick reducing ones intended for transmission bellhousing bolts, for example.

Extensions by their nature will absorb impacting force through twisting. You can offset this by getting a 1/2" female to 3/8" male extension, and use a higher powered 1/2" impact wrench to get more busting power on the socket end.
