dwvcfii, if you aren't already doing this, you should have your webserver look at the Referrer header and serve or not serve the image accordingly.
That's the funny part about it. My website already protects against hotlinking, so all people see is my "Access Denied" picture. Most people see the warning picture and get the idea, but some do not.
p.s. welcome to garage journal

.
Thanks for the welcome, incidentally, but I've been reading the journal regularly for a couple years now. I just tend to focus my writing on BMW sites where I provide free tech support for certain vehicles. And I say that to point out to everyone here that I'm not some evil name-calling d!ckhead who just registered to break the OP's balls. I do my share to contribute to the community, but I don't appreciate people abusing the resources I provide.
Most people who hotlink don't realize they're doing something wrong, and in those cases (like this one) I take the time to educate the person and politely request they take the 10 seconds required to correct their post to remove the offending link. Most people respond in kind and correct the problem. Other people, however, cop an attitude and say, more or less "fu". The link is still there, so it appears the OP has decided to take the latter approach, so I'll have to contact the admins to correct it.
Sorry to all for interrupting the thread.
