Finally getting a page started that incorporates my shop and the projects associated with it.
Lots of Unistrut pieces to go along with it which is what the title implies.
The Work Bench is a 10' 7" bench framed out of Unistrut. The boxes are Lista top and bottom. The bench top is 12 gauge steel welded together to eliminate the small gap, since there is not a bench of that size.

I wired the lights for the lamps, the fuel pump, and the candy machine to the light switch next to the door last week. I need to fabricate a platform for the pump to sit on in place of the wood frame now.
I will also be installing some old wood to make a lap siding wall. This will mimic an old Chevron fuel station that was in Alaska since we only had a hand full of companies in Alaska for fuel back in the 50's.

The multi level four post storage lift I built out of Unistrut. Each platform is 5' x 10' and has weight rating of 1000 lbs.

Can't speak to the. Lifting system but uni strut is one versatile product . You can build anything with out having to weld it ,all kinds of faseners available.
Everything can be disassembled and reused .

As mentioned, Unistrut / Superstrut has many versatile uses. The 12 gauge rolled design is very strong and light weight. I researched the Unistrut website for their product specs and went from there. Plus it is cheaper than buying a 10' stick of 1.5" square tubing.

The shelves are out of 12 gauge plate steel. I had the yard cut and bend the pieces to the size I needed and then welded the edges. I painted them with bed liner rattle can spray paint.

Library ladder and Jib Crane

The ladder was also made out of Unistrut. I had some extra roller blade wheels so I used them for the bottom to roll on. Since this picture I added an another step and filled the open channels with black rubber strut filler.

The Jib Crane was made out of 2" sch 80 pipe and some double strut I found on craigslist. It is approx 7' long and I put a lifting rating of 500 lbs. It is mainly used to lift the snowmachine or the portable fuel tank in and out of the truck.
There is also another one on the other side of the bench. Identical set up. They both house a 440 lb singe line rated hoist. I can double it up for a double rating if needed.
I will add for those that do not know. These electric hoist are inexpensive and very versatile but the start and stop motion is very jerky. So when building somthing like this keep this in design factor. In other words the foundation needs to be at least double the strength for the initial impacts.

The last pic. is a bit confusing . Am I looking at a long straight wall where the tool box is sitting ? How big is your play pen ?

The fish eye shot is of the work wall as well as the overhead doors and the long stock storage area. These photos allow for a one shot look at the shop.
The Chevron Station wall is on the other side of the shop. When I get back home I will try to take a shot of that side.
Snowmachining is a form of cold aggression reliever. I have broken both thumbs in past rides but still love to ride.

2013 Ride at Yoder Road looking north to Mount McKinley. That was the day I broke my right thumb. The ride out was a 7 mile fun trip.

2-20-2014 Northern lights at work. Not as good as a professional shot but I was using my water proof Pentax camera on a small window mount tripod. With the window down and van off it got cold at -40 f.

Snow on Fire. This was this year after the only snow we got. After it was lit for a few seconds I skimmed of the top layer of snow and the snow shoveled off stayed lit for about 30 seconds.

2014 Iditarod Restart

Took some time to enjoy the Iditarod Restart in Willow. The weather here has been out of the norm. On the Long Lake in the 40 deg f sun with a few hundred spectators and various types of vehicles.

You must have snuck this thread in the gallery when I took Friday off from work (and my computer) a couple weekends ago. Anyway, I’m subscribed now so I won’t miss a beat. The “Strut” title drew me, of course, before I even noticed the thread starter

It’s cool to see all your great creations pulled together in one place like this. And it's nice to see some shots of life in AK. Its looks like a beautiful place and I hope to visit it someday.

Cleaning the floor

The inlaws had this laying around so I borrowed it and tried on the shop floor. I know it is mainly for carpet but I had to try it. The shop floor was looking like a used Walmart parking lot. Oil stains, spray paint over spray, dirt, rust, weld burns, etc... So after about 30 minutes of on the floor it came out fairly well. There is still some over spray and some chips from the chains and plow but a lot better.
This was the old Electrolux machine I used. I also used some stiffer brushes.

Pay Phone

Added a part to the Chevron station. Got a hold of an old 3 slot Western Electric Pay Phone. Not quite sure of the year but I am guessing early 60's. Maybe someone can chime in on this one for me. I need to work on the rotary dial, wire it up for service, and the upper lock needs to be replaced. But it is mounted in its new location.

All other parts appear to work well. I have not seen any with the plastic lift piece though.

Library Ladder

Thought I would show some better pics of the Library Ladder with all the rungs in place and the black rubber rubber caps.
The rungs allow me to reach the ceiling safely if I really need to.

Pressure Washer Hose Reel relocation

I needed to relocate the Pressure washer hose reel to the make room for the Roll Out Cabinet in the corner. I mounted it on the center removable post for my two over head doors. It has a 3' high pressure coming from the stainless tubing to allow for removal of the post if I need to have the full 25' opening. the Aluminum frame is 4" inside width so I took a 4" square tube and fabed up a bracket with some, yes, Unistrut for ease of installation.

I also extended the line down a bit more and added a pressure gauge for a local read out, since the pressure washer is on the other side of the shop (40' away), along with a quick connect if the need to have two pressure washers running at once ever comes around.

Did you have to custom form the step supports to suit the angle, or are they standard Unistrut brackets?

You gotta love that stainless tubing - it doesn't get any better than that! Very clean looking installation on the hose reel and the brass gauge was a cool (and I'm sure useful) touch.

Hey, is that phone hooked up yet? I tried just calling and the operator said it was still disconnected! (maybe I dialed the wrong number - I tried 1-800-UNI-STRUT figuring that was it )

BTW, I've never seen a removeable post between garage doors before. If you ever take it out, you need to snap a couple pictures to explain it to all of us. Sounds pretty cool.

Thank you. The angle brackets had to be slightly altered in a vice to reach (I believe it was 17 deg) the correct angle. It is very close to what the A frame ladders are at.

Hahahaha. All my other stuff going on I must have forgot to pay the bill.
The original owner had a Super Cub he parked in there. I'll try to get pics of the post out. One is for sure I have to make sure when the post is out no one closes the doors.
