Thanks to the knowledge I’ve gained here plus my addiction (it’s important to take responsibility for one’s faults) I’ve amassed a large tool collection. One thing I do not have is a set of stubby flex head wrenches. Would any of you please let me know a situation you have encountered where absolutely nothing else could have worked?

I've heard the stubby ratcheting ones are a necessity for pulling some engines/transmissions. I've got the gearwrench ones but haven't needed them yet!

I've used them to mount Baldor motors with the mounting plate. Socket doesn't fit, regular wrench was slow.

Also use them on putting machinery back together...mostly in the realm of aligning pieces and just getting a little snug. The stubby flex are super easy to hold and maneuver.

I'm talking about ratcheting ones btw...

I have the Blue Point ratcheting stubby flex. They get use a lot for engine bay work. Alternators , PS, A/C, pulleys, Tensioner. And generally stuff on cars that’s crammed in way to tight....

Jeep 5.2s coil and bracket. I couldn’t get to it without those wrenches unless I moved a bunch of other stuff...

Also helped on 1979 ford bronco Automatic transmission and transfer case

As others have mentioned, in a crowded engine bay trying to remove a bracket, sensor, or component. Although you might not use them often daily. it's better to have them and not need them, than to need them and not have them. Look for a set on sale. I really like the gearwrench versions i have.

I've used the gearwrench set a bunch - for me, it's the kind of tool I don't use every day, but when I need them there isn't a substitute. Starters, clutch slave, under dash, all places they've saved my bacon. I'd also recommend ratcheting as when you're using them is usually crummy access, occasionally blind - resetting a 'normal' wrench can be a giant pain every quarter turn...

important thing with these is want 12 point and thin ring and flexi knuckle or they too bulky be overly useful .
I like the facom ones .
