At work most of the boxes have stubby dual80 in 3/8, they are pretty awesome and I find I can work faster with them because it ends up in my shirt pocket. With that said, Im not a huge fan on the grip as I find on long bolts i.e. for a cross car beam it gouges my palm up.

I cant talk to any other options out there

I have a dual 80 3/8". Its nice, but I use my 1/4" ratchet with 3/8" guts way more. You are talking about that 1/2" stubby, right? I personally can't see the use for it and wouldn't buy one new I'd maybe buy one used or if it was a giveaway in a promo with something I actually needed/wanted. I bet that ratchet won't be around for long.

My go-to stubbies are el-cheapo gearless (similar to the Titan gearless micro sold by Northern Tool). I have the Toptuls as well, and while they're nice, I don't find myself using them very often. I use stubbies in confined spaces, and the very small gearless are perfect for those situations.

my 1/2'' stubby was a regular SO ratchet until the handle broke. instead of getting it warrentied i smoothed and rounded the broken edge and it became a stubby.

Thanks for the input guys. I wanted the stubby for the speed and control over say a 1/2 spinner wheel. Any other recommendations for 3/8 or 1/2.

my favorite small 3/8'' ratchet is the SO FCF72. it has more than paid for itself.

The shape of the handle on the FK80 I find annoying (how it funnels out when before it was a ball shape) and really like the earlier ratchet it replaced. I sold my FK80 and got the FCF72 also.

I have the Snap-On FK830 with the ball end and a FK936 with the flare end. I like the flare end a little better. The Duralast stubby is near identical to the FK936 and is a great ratchet. I wouldn't mind owning the 80 tooth version of this ratchet. Just can't justify the purchace at this time.

I have the SK 45174. Hefty little thing that feels good in the hand. Looking to get me some Wright stubbies at some point. I see the Snap-on ball end as the final word in stubby design though and need me one of those some day too, just because. :rocker:

Get one of the much maligned Cman raised panel 3/8" ratchets, cut the handle to the desired length, round and smooth it off, and BAM, you've got a serviceable stubby.

BFR58FT...Matco 3/8" flex-head stubby. I own quite a few of these 88 tooth Matco ratchets, and I think they are the best I have ever worked with. And having the flex head on the stubby is clutch.

Have posted a picture of my NAPA stubby before, but it's been a while so maybe some have not seen it. This one gets a lot of use.
