I have tool chests for a lot of stuff I dont use, we are so dependant on common combo wrenches we have 3 racks in the shop, they circulate and "land" there. A tray on a cart carries most common metric we would need where we would need them but the sae is endless, dozens of times a day on most days. I mark 10's and 13's with a tape in our place, eleminates a lot of confusion.
Here sockets and wrenches are not grouped by set but by size and numbers based on demand, commons like 9/16 and 3/4 have multiples and a couple places in shop, a 23mm whci I might rarely use is stored in cabnit with any others not widely used. I am willing to walk to source one of the rare but the commons we grab like pit crew.
We modify as we go to make it more user friendly and reduce sorting. Found its as important to put things not often used out of the way as it is important to have frequent items at hand.
Added plier rack. We are in this so often dont even bother with drawers for a lot of it.
