I have new (1 year) smooth cement floor and (2) studded track snowmobiles. I will use dollies to move them around when inside, but looking for some ideas when I drive them in / out. I have a short 3' cement apron also.

Rubber mats, etc.

Any new or proven ideas / thoughts?

thanks

Someone here mentioned using horse stall mats from tractor supply placed just inside at the garage door. I'm also faced with this problem, have 1 sled with embedded studs but I have an 8' front apron I purposely put in so I can put the sleds on dollys outside and roll them in. Also in NY, hoping for a good winter we are long overdue.

Stall mats are nice but the studs might get in them, plywood might be more durable. If the studs are blunt then the stall mats would be my choice.

You can use an old sled track. Just cut it in half......

Don't forget about the wear rods on the skis. If you have studs, you are probably running carbides. You must take them into account them because they too will chew up you floor.

I keep a Case 1840 in the garage winter months. It has chains all 4 wheels. I used 1/4” OSB, 2 sheets, cut 24” width. Has worked well. I’m probably gonna have to replace them next year, but they’ve lasted 5+ years to this point.

I'm thinking of using a elevated 2x12 so I can back in sled with the ski carbides off the floor so I can close garage door and let the ice melt out of skid.

Source some old belting from gravel pit or mine. They give the stuff away. I dropped off a 7000b spool sourced from a mine, farmer said roll it off truck. So I did and when it hit the ground the strapping broke and it unrolled. Farmer says "guess I cut it up where it lays now"
The belting was for his horse barn

This is what I was going to suggest. Any factory that has conveyor belts that need to be replaced from time to time, usually but not always, tosses them into the trash.

I use Horse Stall Mat which has a really good comfort overall which I think you should take a closer look at if you should choose maybe in the future.

We have had lots of people get from us some of our overstock www.supratile.com interlocking floor tiles to protect the floor from the carbide. Just pull them up after the winter, use again next season.

Fire depts use them when they put chains on for seasonal use.
