Studebaker Hydraulic Vise

Finally got my very own C.O.V. (Cool old vise), a Studebaker no less
Very little paint left on it, looks like it was probably an orange/yellowish color. Debating whether I should paint it or just brush it off and give it a coat of linseed oil.
For those who must know, $100.

Very cool! Never seen one like that. My vote is for the linseed oil.

If you use the advanced search at the top of the page, putting in 'studebaker vise' for once actually turns up some useful results (it usually doesn't work nearly that well.)

Wow, surprising amount of information out there.
Sadly the foot pump was not with the vise so I guess I’ll have to make one.

Yes, I’m not sure I’d want it hanging off the bench as far as it would have to, but mounted vertically it would probably be pretty handy.

Very rare piece. I looked for one of those for thirty years. After I'd given up and pretty much forgotten about them, a Studebaker Driver's Club member inherited several NOS and he sold me a couple. These are medium blue. They did not come with the foot pump, so I've adapted both a motor-driven pump and a foot pump from a Greenlee tool similar to this one.

And yes, they require a deep bench to accommodate them.
