I know this is not the classifieds, but I have tons of stuff in my barn from years of being a general contractor that need to go. I have wire shelves, teco's, misc. hardware, all kinds of stuff. Is this something that I should post in the class. section or will I be wasting time. Should I just scrap it?

I'm not sure habitat would use a lot of what I have. I guess I will post a few examples in the classified section the next couple of days. I am a packrat by nature and its all useful, hence why I still have it. I am at a point where I need the room more than the stuff now though. I'm not really crazy about yard sales.

Check facebook for local BST groups. There are usually some that cater to construction/contractor stuff. might get someone to come get it all at once and give you some cash.

All good ideas - bundle it all up and sell on C-list if you need the cash (and have the time to deal with scammers, run-arounds, and other ne'er-do-wells), or donate it to Habitat or Goodwill, etc., if you need the tax write-off or the warm-fuzzys.

Or hell, find a younger GJ-er (either here or at your next car show) who's just getting started and needs some junk of their own!

I personally wouldn't deal with hassle of craigslist buyers. I've bought off craigslist but never sold on it. There are too many scammers and crack heads.

Habitat in our area will take anything. They will also come haul it off.

Perhaps some of your workers could use it.

We just sold $1400 worth of used material from our remodel, cabinets, appliances, drawers and doors from cabinets, etc. We used Facebook garage sale pages and Craigslist. We did a two day sale, Friday and Saturday, then Sunday morning I listed everything left as one day only bundles for cheap. Almost everything brought some money. The little bit left on Monday got donated.

I don't "need" the money (but its always nice), and I would be more than glad to pay it forward. I'm not crazy about the cl hassle, I just hate to throw what I think is good stuff away. I know a lot of the guys on here could make something out of it. If there is someone in the vicinity of North Eastern MD that may be interested shoot me a pm

find someone interested in getting into that profession or someone that just bought a house. My girlfriends grandfather was a piper fitter and had a ton of tools he gave me when we got our first house. It meant the world.

I would look in to donating to Habitat for Humanity. In my area, they will send a lift gate truck to pick up donations of all types. Pay it forward with a bonus tax deduction.

Any auction places nearby? Load it up and sell with no reserve. Stuff you think will go high will barely sell and stuff that is barely above scrap will get into a bidding war, at least that's how the farm auctions around here are.

Put it out near the road with a free sign. If you do small lots over a couple of weeks, the variety makes em come back for more. People just love free stuff and will take what they think they can use or sell. Either way, it's in the hands of locals and it's kinda fun to check the piles every couple of days to see what's gone.

Habitat takes donations and they sell the stuff in their "ReStores", not necessarily that they use it themselves, it is a fund raiser so they can build new homes. Where I'm from they will come and get some things. It works really well for them, they basically make something out of other people's stuff they don't need.

Local high school robotics team might make use of stuff. They are goodwill ambassadors and will probably organize to pick it up!
