Been a long time lurker. Lots of good information on this site. Have a couple questions
So I’m building a storage shed and I plan to put a 40amp sub panel in it fed from the 100amp sub panel in my garage with 8 awg thwn wire run underground. Shed is about 50 feet away. I just need to power an air compressor, light, and a few outlets so 40 amps is plenty. I also plan is to run an airline underground to my garage so I don’t need to deal with the noise of the compressor.
Now my question is; can I put a switch in the garage to turn on and off the compressor in the shed? If so, is just as simple as running wire back to the garage to the switch?
What about an electrically controlled ball valve (such as this http://www.flow-controls.com/Mini-motorized-ball-valve-CWX15.html )? With the switch also in the garage to pressurize and depressurize the airline?
I understand this is all a luxury and 50 feet isn’t far to work to turn on and off a compressor and turn a valve but if it’s possible and not to difficult, then what’s the harm?
Thanks for the help.
