Sub panel mounting

I have a post frame building that I will be finishing the interior with ribbed steel. i will be wiring the shop with romex so my panel needs to be flush mount. Any ideas, advise, pictures? I was thinking of mounting it to a 2x4 in the wall and then surrounding it by a removable sheet of plywood and then meeting the edge of the plywood with steel j trim.

You can surface mount it if you use the knockouts in the back of the panel

I have a wood framed garage, but same technique would work . I put rigid foam against the outside sheething, a pc of ply on that. mounted the panel to the plywood .
