"limited edition" storage combo with "self-closing" drawers. But they're not self-closing, the darn drawers fight back with resistance! Once you overcome the resistance, only then do they snap closed.

Am I missing something here? I just don't see the appeal of drawers that behave in this manner. I'd rather have lower-capacity standard drawers than ones with these slides.

I tried them out in the store and was not impressed. Seems like it is more of a gimmick.
The boxes also seem cheap and flimsy compared to my early 90's boxes.
Overall I was very disappointed with the tool department.

Wow. A simple return mechanism would do their griplatch boxes very well, but that is NOT the way to do it!

Maybe it needs weight in it to work properly, but Sears seems to have completely lost the way for decent tools storage so nothing would surprise me...

i have one of those boxes at home an when u get some weight in them they close alot better an the floor models are not as good as the ones u buy. they're just thrown together. i wouldn't use them for professional use but they're good to use at home

Maybe, but a drawer shouldn't have to be fully loaded to work satisfactory. I have a couple of soft/self-closing drawers, and they work just the same when empty as when loaded.

It's good to hear that they do perform a bit better when loaded up.

Even so, my impression is based solely on what I saw with the as-is in-store demo. If there's no flaw with the product, then there are still problems with the presentation.

Seems more like a super-heavy detent than any sort of "self-closing" feature. Gotta love what advertising departments come up with.

Just another gimmick that doesn't live up to the advertising....my BB Griplatch works better than this.
