I will take some dual 80's if someone will share their discount with me and I will pass them a few bucks for the effort and some for shipping.

Well, now I am curious. How can that be? A warranty has to be honored.......

any links to this discussion?

No link... Can't search with my blackberry very well...

But I bet the jist is that the warranty is only valid for the original purchaser d the product from a certified seller...

Also, snap on dealers are not warranty centers, that is a service they offer paying customers as a courtesy, but they don't have to by any means.

These Proto's are my favorite ratchets. IMO they are the highest quality ratchets on the market. Compact head, thin profile, unobtrusive and user friendly reversing lever, perfect length and balance, sealed head, strong gear pawl, etc. The fit/finish on them is amazing and they are very comfortable to use. MSC has them for reasonable prices, especially when they have a 25-35% off promo. I have all five of the chrome models.

Alright, I took you up on your offer ;)

Just ordered the 910/55 3/8"

Well, the Beta 910/55 arrived today...and the outer covering on the handle is cracked. The orange covering on the end of the handle is clearly defective. I will see how Amazon/SmallParts wants to handle this (no pun intended).

I haven't used the ratchet, but it does have a nice feel in my hand, and I think I'm going to really like the reverse mechanism. It has a nice firm feel and appears to be darn near impossible to move accidentally.

Damn! Sorry to hear about that! Too bad, since you were probably all excited to try it out, and wham! No soup for you! Hopefully they handle it pretty well... if they give you ****, I would suggest contacting Beta themselves, I am betting they will be more than happy to help work something out... they do have the Ferrari account for a reason.

And pictures please!? Even with a broken handle we can all still drool!

Already heard back from Amazon. Since it's an item from a third-party, they can't issue a replacement per se, but they are accepting the return and paying return postage. Also, I placed a new order so I will get a new ratchet anyways. It's just a weird technicality of buying from a third party...they say that their inventory changes too often for Amazon to offer a replacement. A little weird, but...

I would love to post pics but my wife is on vacation with the camera. My camera phone is way beyond crappy...I wanted to post pics of the cracked handle, but you can't even really see the damage in the pics taken from my phone -- that's how crappy it is!

When the new ratchet arrives, I'll be sure to post pics...although I'm bummed about this particular problem, I think I'm ultimately going to be really happy with the ratchet -- thanks for the recommendation.

Your very welcome! I am in the same boat for pictures... all I have is a crappy camera on my phone, and I don't even have a digital camera! I am going to borrow my brothers sometime down the road here to post some pictures.

I'm kinda surprised the handle was cracked, since my handles seem nearly industructable! Maybe it got really hot on its way to you? But yeah, that switching lever is impossible to accidently switch!

The heat MAY be to blame. It looks like the handle underneath the orange accenting stuff swelled and split the orange outer-layer.
