Suggestions for a TPMS tool?

I have an older Ateq VT55 that only works on cars up to 2012 and no updates are available. What is a good replacement that can program many aftermarket sensors and doesn’t require annual paid updates to keep working? Looking under $300.

The Autel TS508 looks good but only programs Autel sensors. The Ateq VT37 programs many aftermarket sensors but reading the reviews, many people say it stops working after a year if you don’t do an update that costs almost as much as the tool itself.

I have the Autel TS508WF and I use on Ford and Toyota factory sensors. So I am not sure where you are getting your information at but it is not correct.
I meant it only programs Autel aftermarket sensors. I'm sure it programs OEM sensors just fine but don't care to pay triple the price for them.

It does not program anything but Autel, at least the 508 that I have. NAPA even sells Autel, so why would you need to program OEM?....just stock Autels, they even do both freqs.
Best thing about the Autel is free upgrades, my Ateq from NAPer cost for upgrades and is no longer supported.

I have the TS508 and Autel still has updates for it.

If the aftermarket sensor has been programmed, you can read it and add it to the car.

My offer of $140 was accepted for this one, plus $5 shipping. Anything I missed in the ad suggesting I got screwed?
Looks legit. Yes, the 508 will scan any sensor. Only time we had issues with our 508 was a 2006ish Honda CRV that I had to use my old Ateq to relearn sensors via the OBD port.
To be fair, even my 2022 Snap On Triton would not allow me hand jam that one, so the older tool came in handy.

Those autel 508 and 508wf are super common on the used market. Many parts stores will give one to you if you order (20) MXSensors in a multi-pac, at least for commercial accounts. I've had the best luck through NAPA. I've sold several on ebay that came in those kits. Definitely makes those sensors the best value on the market.

Ours will scan any sensor and gets just as much use as our bartec tool. The Autel is more sensitive and will pick up a sensor on the other side if you have a dead sensor, it will let you know that its a duplicate though. The MXSensors program much more reliably than a RediSensor, or the schrader EZSensor.

Be sure to look at the date of manufacture on your vehicle when it asks for the date range, it has caught several of my techs off guard.

A brief update after starting to use the tool. This Autel is great for reading sensors and doing relearns, but being stuck programming only Autel aftermarket sensors is a problem. Need a set of sensors for a 2010 VW. Ones from authorized Autel sellers cost $120 a set. I see some for $95 on Amazon and Ebay but who knows they are real or fake? Plus I assume both are made in China.

I would have liked to get these Bosch sensors made in Germany for $87 OTD, but the Autel tool wont program them.

Ended up ordering these Schrader sensors that are pre-programmed from Rock Auto for $95 OTD.

Any reasonably priced tool that programs aftermarket sensors? Thinking of selling the Autel.

Happy Holidays Everyone, Getting ready to purchase the Autel 508 but wanting to hear if it will waken the new Honda factory TPMS sensors I replaced on a 2008 Accord - My Topdon Phoenix scanner does not "wake" the new sensors but it appears to do the rest. Would love to know if it works for most vehicles also such as my 19 Sierra and the wife's 14 ES350 - Thanks in Advance!

My Autel TS508WF wakes the factory installed TPMS sensors on our Honda just fine.
If the Honda sensors are brand new, not yet programmed the Autel wouldn't do anything with those until they are programmed with whatever tool Honda sensors require.

Thank you. I’m thinking the Autel will awaken the brand new Honda TPMS sensors and then will allow my Topdon Phoenix will marry the TPMS wheel sensors to the Accord.

Just this weekend I used an Autel 508 to reprogram the TPMS ECU with new IDs after replacing the OEM sensors on my daughter's 2013 Prius (which is kind of a relative of your wife's car). So no worries about Toyota-family compatibility.

The Autel is really spiffy -- much easier to use than my old lash-up of TechStream on a laptop with a mini-VCI cable!
