Hello, I'm new to this sight so here goes. I'm looking for suggestions on a drill press. I don't want to get a expensive one but then I don't want to go cheap and have it not work ether. I will be using it for metal and wood. Any and all suggestions will be very helpful. Also since I'm new I may have made a mistake on posting this. If I did let me know also. Thanks Don

Depends what you want floor standing or bench? How big are the holes you will be drilling? For wood pretty much any drill will have the speeds to drill any hole, for metal though the slower the drill the larger the hole it can drill without burning up bits. I have the big hf drill press(https://www.harborfreight.com/12-speed-floor-production-drill-press-39955.html) I got it on cragslist for $150. I would recommend the biggest drill press you can afford/have space for also I wouldn't hesitate to buy used(generally the older/bigger the better).

If you search there are a ton of threads some brands to look for are delta, powermatic, craftsman, buffalo and rockwell.
