Hi All,

getting a hole dug to get ready for a thickened edge floating slab.

The land slopes and i want the pad 3" above grade at the high side which puts me a bit more than 3" on the low side.
I'm clearing all the sod before putting down minimum 4" of crusher run.

The issue is that taking out the sod on the low side of the grade is putting me lower than i need to be for the 4" of gravel and the pad on top.

is it okay to have thicker gravel on one side of the pad and work my way down to 4" of gravel on the high side or should i dig the whole area level with the lowest spot and use more than 4" of gravel the same thickness the whole way?

Thanks!

No worries. As you get thicker with the base, you need to watch out for getting good compaction or doing multiple lifts between compacting, but I would not expect another inch would be a big deal. Just make sure it's compacted well.

Concrete is the only thing that needs to have a consistent cross section due to factors related to the cement curing.
