Suggestions for very rough floor?

Morning all,

I've recently started kitting out my 9m x 5m garage which was built along with my house in around 1985.

The concrete floor has worn through from the elderly couple who had the house previously parking their car inside every night.

The garage has a pit which I will shutter around and make a steel edge for that a cover can sit in nicely.

Is this too rough for self levelling concrete? How thick a skim will I need if I do it the conventional way?

Looking for advice on the most cost effective way to have a reasonable finish, doesnt have to be perfect but would like it painted and be able to take a van's weight.

The tough part would be creating a bonding surface with all of that stone. You would have a hard time getting the paint out. Consider a tile product or perhaps(if not too large) have a contractor give you a price to jack it out and repour.
