I would like to buy a set of 6 point wrenches for my tool box at home. 6 points are nice for holding nut and bolt combinations using impacts. Im up to suggestions on what to get. Im thinking Snap On but not to keen on the price. I want to get a metric set. Thanks in advance.

I have the SK 86127 7mm-19mm set, I don't use them often but I have no complaints about the set. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0007U0HBU/?tag=atomicindus08-20

I use my 12 pt wrenches for that with no problems. Sorry, no suggestions for you since all I have are 12 pt wrenches.

If your are only using them once in a while I sure a set of Craftsman 6pt would do great. You can find a used set on eBay or maybe here in the classifieds. I don't use mine often but they do come in handy from time to time.

This should be something you can find on EBAY for a decent price. I got Williams SAE satin finish (XOE series) and Matco metric chrome (WCL series) sets for wells less than $100 each.

I was in the same boat a while back. Unfortunately, I had to get some craftsman, but if I could buy a whole set, I would get the GearWrench

if you look on Amazon you can still get a USA made Craftsman 6 point wrench set 7mm-16mm (set doesn't have a 9mm for some reason) for $39.99 no tax with free prime shipping. I bought a set last week. They also have SAE as well.

Tekton makes some 6-point ratcheting wrenches. I don't understand the entire 6pt. thing as I've never had any problem with 12pt. But, hey, I live in the desert and not in the salt belt (lucky me).

When I bought a set of SAE wrenches 20 years ago for myself, I just knew 6 point was stronger, and that was what I needed.

It was just youthful exuberance; I won't make that mistake again.

On smaller fasteners, 6 point may have a tiny bit of benefit. Think of it this way: Ko-Ken offers socket sets. Some of them are 6 point up until 12 or 13mm. Above that, you're gaining nothing, except in the case of a wrench, you're making access more difficult.

I have 6 point Craftsman SAE wrenches They are more of a backup for ny 12 point, but they are great on rusted nuts and bolts.
