now, this is what I'm after

* I want something that looks/feels good.
( mainly so my daughter can walk about with socks on and have her toys, and also for entertaining)

* Somewhat temporary
(were not sure if where staying or not, but want it to look good, for buyers, but easy for them to remove)

* Easy clean
(Basement is unfinished)

I was originally thinking Adhesive tiles OR Versa click as below links.
I want something dead easy and quick to put down.

Now the floor itself is concrete, a few hairline cracks, and it seems to have a kinda texture on it, like it's been layed and then spread with something, (I can get pics)

Will adhesive tiles go straight on?

Cheers in advance !

Check out some flooring stores. I was checking out laminate hardwood and they showed me a vinyl laminate perfect for basements. When I saw it I said that's what I'll install when I finish my basement. Floating floor, no need to glue, moisture not a problem.

Good luck...

Maybe plastic tiles would work out good for you. They would be easy to put down, and easy to remove if necessary. Or, possibly you could get a carpet remnant at a really cheap price.

thankxs for the replies.

Yes I was reading, about moisture problems.

I'll do a moisture test anyway,

This is more to do with condensation issues?

I'm leaning towards plastic tiles, because of ease of use and cheapness

This is what I put down its basically plastic and snaps together and feels warm. The piece laying there is the back side but its not cheap.

Self adhesive type products are hit and miss in a basement application. I know we insist that people use a good primer/sealer first. PVC tiles work very well. If your looking for high end, Envee Flooring (from the makers of TuffSeal is neat stuff)

thankxs guy's,
i had some bad reviews on something called versa-click

so am leaning towards adhesive tiles.

Some of the big box stores are very expensive but some of the wholesale outlets seem more within price range.

I'm doing approx 600sq/ft best pricing I've seen for 12x12 tiles adhesive is about $500 can.

You know something, I was suspecting some kinda prep ;)

the floor has a few stains and a couple of long cracks (but not got bigger since 2010) when I moved in with my wife.

the concrete "looks" brushed and it doesnt seem to be the same "grey" that my garage floor originally was is, I'm wondering if it has been primed.

I'll try and get some pics

Also with tiles as opposed to click flooring/vinal sheets, any screw ups/accidents are easier to fix, without tearing up the whole floor

Hey, sorry for double posting it,

I've started a thread on my basement project, but I know there's a lot of throughput here.

Already asked here but as below please, assistance, please and thank you.

I've uploaded a you-tube video of the basement:

Points to note and questions

2:21 @ min What is this concrete floor covered in ?
2:55 @ min Thoughts on filling these cracks ?
4:00 @ min Ideas on drain
4:47 @ min What is this overflow pipe, can I re-route it and if so to where ?

hmmm, acid etch? I don't really wanna get a grinder in there,
I'm not sure what that is, maybe when it's cleared out I can try to stick a few tiles and see what happens?

I just did a section in foam tiles. Around 10' x 15'. It came out nice... easy to install.
