Suggestions on how to search efficiently?

I have only recently found this lovely site and would like to know from the old-timers if there are tips for searching for specific stuff that can make the posting and searching even easier.

Is there a way to get a notification if someone posts to your questions?

I like the ease of putting up a post, but I would like to know more about how the threads are placed within a post and any other helpful suggestions to help a newcomer out.

In the google search bar type something like this:

site:garagejournal.com harbour freight or Snap-On

16,700 results

I agree, sometimes you just know it is there, but can't find the right combination of words.
