Suggestions on shipping a vintage drillpress

I've got a vintage Craftsman bench top drill press (with floor stand) that I'm looking to ship from South Carolina to New Jersey. It's currently outside of Columbia SC, and I would like to get it up to my garage in Maplewood NJ. I've looked into FedEx and it seems it would run about $500. A bit too pricey for me.

Does anyone know of a good easy, and inexpensive way to ship equiptment?

People like to use fastenal for stuff like that.

I have used UShip for large, heavy speakers.

No crating necessary.

They can easily do your press.

Fastenal only requires that you fasten an item to a pallet. Crate optional.

I have no idea how well it works but it's an interesting concept. Maybe some guy's here can shed some light on it.
