Summer Work Boot Socks?

Hey Guys. I have a lot of projects I need to tackle this summer and I have a great pair of Red Wing boots, but i'm trying to find a pair of socks that work well, but aren't to hot. Any suggestions?

+1000. I don't have any really thick darn tough socks but I love the thinner ones I have for running / biking / general wear.

Wool sounds like it would be too hot but it wicks well, and thinner sock (or one with cushion but a thin top) should work. You could try a Coolmax sock but I'd go with wool.

Right now I'm wearing Duluth Trading Co mid weight work socks, they don't offer them anymore or they've changed the line up. I was concerned with how thick they are and would they be hot. They are actually quite comfortable and keep the heat out. The pavement markings crew leader told me years ago to wear insulated boots in the summer that way it'll keep the pavement heat off your feet.

He's right my feet don't get as hot before with the thicker socks. BTW the Duluth socks aren't that great as they slide down and bunch up and I'm starting to get holes in the toes after two months. I'll be looking at DarnTough and Wigwam next.

INgenious. Best socks I ever used. Merino wool/Olefin blend. They perform just like wearing a wool sock with a liner without the bunching and wrinkles. They used to be sold by WigWam, but now they're sold by Cabela's.

Wool socks are probably going to be too warm for you during the summer.

I have a bunch of pairs of regular white Red Wing cotton boot socks that are my go-to socks for my work boots. They're not very expensive, hold up well and you can bleach them when they get dirty and stinky.

I also have a few different pairs of Wigwam wool/wool blend socks that I use during the winter if the Red Wing socks aren't warm enough.

If it matters, both the Red Wing and Wigwam socks are made in the USA.

Another vote for Darn Tough. They have a full cushion and a crew cushion which is the sole and up along side the foot a bit. FC is over the top of the foot and up to the ankle bone. I've spent many days wearing the socks only on clean concrete and they won't wear out. And yet they are soft.

I am most comfortable in either snap on or under armor heat gear socks during our new hampshire summers. Wool socks are very itchy on a humid day.

I know it seems crazy or counterintuitive to wear wool in the summer but I am another smartwool year round wearer.....I believe the natural fiber wicks away moisture better. I haven't tried darn tough but I would like to.

Darn tough and smart wool are my regular rotation. They perform well in boot, hikers, runners, and fire boots.

Thorlo socks are my go to. They have thick hikers, white athletic, walking, tennis, even dress. They are well padded and wick well. Don't lose their elastic. The only thing I wouldn't recommend them for is welding (even though I do) because of the poly content.

Wool blend socks are much better for your dogs. Wool socks wick away moisture where cotton will remain wet. After 13 years in the Army and service in Iraq, I did learn something about my feet. It's still a matter of personal preference though...

^^ Yep that's what I did. I bought mine on Amazon - 1 pair of the Merino Wool John Henry Boot Sock and 1 pair of Merino Wool Coolmax Boot Full Cushion. Ordered yesterday and they will be at the house tomorrow.
