I’m looking to buy some parts offered by both Summit and Jegs at similar prices. I’ve never shopped at either but from what I’ve read online, both companies are good to deal with. My question for GJ is, do either of them offer coupons/discounts to returning customers? Looking at their websites I didn’t see any type of incentives.

Look at RockAuto first.
i have done Jegs for a single wire alternator. It was priced well and sent quickly to me. However no returning customer deals.

No coupons or incentives that I know of. I have purchased easily $3000 of parts from Summit and no discount that I am aware of. Nor from Jegs. I also like RockAuto.

I've used all three mentioned and have never had a problem.

Never noticed any return customer incentives, but I do remember using a "code" on the back of the catalog, but its been years since the code was used.

It usually comes down to which website is easier to find what I'm looking for.

I also check Rock first though.

I recently ordered about $100 in products from Summit and they sent me a $20 coupon good on my next order. I have ordered from both Summit and Jegs in the past with excellent results. I do not know anything about Rockauto.

Jegs has an ebay store, but besides that I use summit. Their website is slightly less crappy. Also I think they price match if you call them. Rockauto has good prices but I normally don't buy from them to avoid their screwy shipping.

I've only used Summit and have always had good experiences. The shipping is usually very fast, 3-4 days tops (even for wheels). They also have an easy return policy, and one time there was something missing in a package and they replaced it without any hassle.

I've used Summit and Jegs, both good companies, I do however check the part price on Amazon and often get a better deal when you take shipping into consideration...

I've mainly used Summit and have never had a problem with them (10-15 orders and counting), but once I used Jegs and the first transaction was a little cumbersome as I am overseas with overseas credit card. Summit didn't have the same hoops to jump through. Prices virtually the same. While building my shop and starting to restore my car, I didn't have to buy razor blades for over a year cause Summit was including a couple of Schticks in my boxes. Not sure if they still do that.

I'm fortunate enough to live close enough to both of them that I can make the trip to either one and have done so many times.

Website wise, I find Summits site better, easier to read and more info on a product.

Traveling to the store, Jegs is a little closer but the store is smaller(11th Ave). When it's packed in there, it's packed and sometimes harder to hear when they call your number. I've been in and out in less than 15 minutes before. I always go in with a list of part numbers and quanities of what I want, makes the sales guys happy and the transaction alot easier.

Summit is a little farther (15 minutes)but if the wife goes, we hit the Cracker Barrel up the road, makes for an enjoyable little road trip. Summit's showroom is about 8 times the size of Jegs showroom if you want to walk around and look at stuff on display.

That being said, I order from both but I usually give the edge to Summit. Prices, they are within pennies of each other, same dollar amount, one at .95 and the other ending their price in .99 It wouldn't be unusual if I placed an order this a.m. that the UPS truck would be stopping tomorrow afternoon.

I live 10 minutes from Summit, so they get my business. I don't know if it's just for walk-in customers, but they do have "Summit Bucks" where you earn points toward dollars off future purchases.

I have used all three, but use Summit and Rock Auto the most. I have also had several returns to Summit and can tell you they have never given me any issues regarding returns. Never tried making a return to the other two tho.

Both are good but I prefer summit. I've order thousands of dollars were of parts from both. Summit ships and arrives within a couple days. Jegs takes an extra day of two. Jegs recently started charging me a rural fee cause I'm out in the sticks so I don't use them unless they carry something that Summit doesn't. Summit doesn't have the rural fee. Rock auto is great for stock replacement parts and they offer discount codes every now and then. I've never had a problem returning any parts back either.

Both are good and I've had no issues with either one and I've mail ordered from both. Three years ago I got a job 10 minutes from the Jegs store on 11th avenue in Columbus,Ohio and I'll stop in there after work to pick up stuff. It's super convenient for me.

I've used both quite a bit, as far as prices and customer service they are pretty well matched. Sometimes there is specific brand or an oddball -an adapter I'm looking for and one will have it but not the other.

One deciding factor for me is that Jegs uses Fed-Ex and and Summit uses UPS.

I know all areas have different experiences with the two shippers, but at my house FED-EX ***** HUGE DONKEY BALLS, they are contractors and there is ZERO consistency as to which of the 15 or so drivers I've seen come here or how many days it takes, what time of the day they arrive, or if the arrive at all.. I've had to battle with them a dozen times over the past 5 years, when drivers flat out lie and mark the tracking as 'customer not home' when I had made a point to wait all day in a wide open garage working on something I'm waiting for the parts for. I know I'm on the tail end of the route in the woods, and they get lazy to come so far and know a different driver will have to do it the following day. They also throw packages in every different nook and cranny all over my property, sometime in the trailer, under the rear deck furniture, beside the garage, on the hood of my work truck, all kinds of dumb ****, so when the tracker says delivered if it's a small package I get to easter egg hunt for 20 minutes to find it. All because my covered front porch is apparently too far from the driveway to walk to.

When they make these lies up, there is no door tag, and the package did not require a signature, so if they did infact show up, then there would be a tag or they would leave the package.

UPS on the other hand 'for my route' is fantastic, the driver Greg shows up everyday between 3:30 and 4:30, puts packages in the same spot, BS's with me sometimes on whatever project I'm working on at the time, and is all around a great asset to me getting packages delivered and picked up with a high amount of reliability.

So in conclusion I always order from Summit these days unless only Jegs has the specific item I'm looking for, based on the single reason that Summit will ship via UPS.

I prefer Summit - probably because I'm a 6 time Summit Super Series champion and I've made a lot of money off them. That they pretty much got right back, anyway. Jegs does very well too and typically their search and on line order process is a little better. I also have racer accounts at both since I'm a card carrying IHRA member. Summit usually uses UPS, Jegs usually FedEx. If I need it sooner and don't want to pay extra, I use Jegs.

Why TCI - look for performance kits at bulkpart.com. That's where I get parts for my race transmission builds.

> but at my house FED-EX ***** HUGE DONKEY BALLS,

FWIW - Fed Ex always beats their delivery estimate to here and UPS never does. UPS has been late a bunch, never FedEx. And the FedEx tracking has always been spot on. I'd use FedEx before I'd use anything else.

Jegs. Better prices and quicker shipping.

The Pro shop discounts are worth signing up for!

I like both and always have both catalogs next to my computer. The only difference for me is the ease that I can find what I'm looking for in Summits catalog and on their website.

I have used Summit in the past. I also use Autoplicity, a lot of the time they are cheaper and codes from time to time

Here is a current one

We'd like to offer to take 2% off of your entire order by using the code 2offtotal at checkout.

i prefer summit over jegs, seems like it's easier to find what i'm looking for especially in the printed catalog.

even with std shipping i usually see my stuff the day after it ships.

i have the same results with JP cycles in iowa for harley parts

I do a lot at Summit and have been mailed 20.00 off my next purchase of 100 or more. Also get free 10-20 dollar credits after buying stuff.

Anything I've wanted to return was no problem at all either. They also honor to match anyone prices too. :rocker:

I live close to their Sparks, Nevada store, so I've never used their shipping.:bounce:

I also have used both and they are good companies. Years ago, I threatened to sue Summit over a fuel pressure guage that burst and caused an engine fire. It was their design for a tuned port injection Chevy motor I had in a my XJS Jaguar. They claimed that they are only obligated to replace the faulty part. I claimed that it was a design flaw. They ended up paying for all the damaged engine parts and repainting of the hood. (It was cheaper than going to court.) I suspect that I was not the only one who had this problem because they recalled all of the guages and sent everybody a plug and Summit hat.

Geez, I've been using summit for close to 20 years and never get any coupons.

Summit's site is better, the search function is easier as well. But we use both companies depending on price and whether a part is in stock.

You might try searching amazon by part number. They have a surprising number of repair and aftermarket parts lately. Ordered a Navigator upper control arm recently and even with shipping it was cheaper than the local box stores, and was the same brand/part number.

I have used Summit and Jeg's and find them both to be great companies to deal with. Prices are comparable, shipping time has been comparable to central NC and their help-lines are comparable. I see no real benefit of one over the other.

It's easy to find a 5% coupon for RockAuto. Never seen one for Summit or Jegs.

I use RockAuto for OEM replacement parts, Summit for performance stuff (I prefer their website & catalog) and Jegs for tools.

Honestly the aftermarket performance market is so big that there's never more than a couple of bucks difference (and that's usually a wash due to shipping costs). Speaking of shipping, because RockAuto have different warehouses they tend to have the most existing shipping if you order a bunch of stuff - it'll end up coming from different warehouses.

I priced out a couple of dozen parts for my El Camino from both Summit & Jegs and the biggest individual price difference was literally $5. And this was on $500+ parts

I ordered an expensive set of drop spindles from Summit. One had a caliper pin bolt drilled slightly off. I called them at 10 PM. No questions asked, new part drop shipped to me, 14 days allowed before they required return, free shipping back with UPS pick-up. I'm sure JEGS is just as good on their policy, but I got to experience dealing with Summit resolution first hand and they are a quality shop.
