Going through my dad's stuff and he has a Sun 1015 Tune Up Tester. Dad was a VW mechanic through the better part of the 60's and 70's and was a huge type 3 fan. He has lots of VW specific tools, and older diagnostic equipment, dwell meters, etc. Anyway, we're going through the shop and there's this sun machine, wondering if it's woth much and what to do with it? I was thinking putting it on craigslist, or gutting it for the boards so people who like these can keep them going.

Haha, that's funny, I'm asking on the 1015 and you guys zero in on the tool chest next to it. :)

Surprised no one noticed the little red box on the top. :)

Here's the story on the 1015. Dad bought it at auction and was using it, said it worked fine. I plugged it in and it fired up, had a trace on the scope and all the lights came on. Dad passed back in March and we've been slowly going through the shop, I'll never use the 1015.

The tool chest: bottom box is a williams, middle chest on that toolbox is a KRA-429 dated 1970, top chest is Mac.

Here's more pictures of stuff, as I go through it, I'll post more images.

Oh, he had a 1978 KR557/537 chest which is at my place and getting a restore thanks to lookn467galaxy's thread.

It's south of Des Moines, Ia. The thing that ***** with these is that they are cost prohibitive to ship.

I purchased a couple of Sun 1115 machines in last few months. They are an upgrade from Sun 1015 (more features and capabilities). The machines that I picked up were offered for sale on Craigslist or Ebay for around the $300 to $350. They didn't sell and I bought them for $125 each. Both machines worked and had the lower cabinet. Whatever you decide to sell them for, you might or might not find and eager buyer. It's a shame, for earlier cars, they work well.

If you have specific tester and tool for the Bosch D-jetronic system, launched in 1970 with the VW 411 I might be interested. Have never seen these IRL but there should be an tester named something like EFAW 228 and some other test stuff.

I'll look, he probably does. There's a ton of NOS vw stuff out there. I KNOW there's a half dozen NOS hatches for a type 4 and a type 4 motor sitting there, along with heads, etc... :) A couple of the samba guys are here and we're going through stuff. If you look on the samba site for VW tools, most the pictures there were from my dad's collection.

If there is a manual for that Sun I would really like a copy.
I had one given to me with a valve grinder but dont have the slightest idea how to use it. I run a small shop and do alot of gas tractor work that I think it would be really good for.
Thanks
Gene
