I just picked up this engine analyzer off craigslist. Seems to be in good functional condition and has a lot of the accessories. I am pretty excited to be able to get this kind of insight into older engines. I have a lot of 50s-70s era cars so this machine should work good. It was actually sold in 1996, so it can work for newer(ish) cars as well.
I actually am currently working replacing the timing chains on a 2007 F150 5.4. Had I owned this machine a week earlier I could have used it to monitor the two cam timing sensors and likely have seen that they weren't consistently in sync (one timing chain tensioner was bad).
I did not get the manuals with this machine. I didn't think it would be a problem till I got home and started looking it over. Not only were there a lot of unlabeled wires and accessories, but hooking them up wrong may have wrecked stuff. On top of that, I wasn't sure exactly how to use all of the information I would be getting. I decided I needed a manual.
I searched online for a Users Guide to no avail. I found that Sun is now owned by Snap On. I gave them a call this morning and the guy says "yup, I've got it, what's your email?" and a minute later I have the entire 244 page users manual!
If anyone has any advice on using these, that would be great, but my main reason for posting was because in my search I found a lot of links to this form (of which I was already a member and have my shop build thread on). I wanted to help others realize that at least some of the manuals are available from the manufacturer and quite easy to get.
