I am still trying to locate a copy of the Sun Machine 4.0 or preferably 5.0 disk..
Can anyone help, please?
If you know how to fix the out memory issue when selecting a different car it would help a lot too..
Thank you..

It's hard to find info on older automotive test equipment and even harder to find parts. Since this was "business equipment", it was often written off and scrapped. I found it best to google what you are looking for and keep checking e-bay. There used to be a Google group for engine analyzers, but I can't find it.

Since used ones are cheap and plentiful, you might even be able to pick up a spare machine for parts. I feel your pain, if a board or unobtanium part goes bad on my Bear Engine Analyzer, I'll be SOL.

I wish there was a forum dedicated to automotive test equipment.

Thank you for extending my vocabulary with “unobtanium”. I am searching, but I am worried about not waking up if my wife finds another Sun Machine in the garage. I guess I need more patience than I currently have.. Thank you for your reply..

I emailed a former co-worker from my Bear days who used to be a repair tech for Sun (Pre-Sanp On). I'll let you know if he replies. I suspect he has moved on to other things.

My wife gives my **** about the big Bear machine in our garage. "What do you need it for again???" Heck, I used it last winter check the ignition and also emissions test my snowblower, LOL.

I will reuse some shelves in it. Printer doesn’t work anyway. It can be a nice cabinet..
I already threw away the CRT monitor. That thing was so painful to the eyes at 60Hz.
It looks a lot nicer with a flat panel and even modern..

Thank you. I hope he can find it. It would be a shame if I can’t resurrect it.. I never heard of a Bear machine, but I can now say that I know someone who has one.. :)

The big three in the 80's: Sun, Allen, Bear. I'll keep my eyes open for stuff. Chicago/Crystal Lake was Sun's home town, so lots of equipment and ex-employees around.
