Just plucked this off CL tonight. Sun Motor Tester for $65. Going to do a little research to find out it's age. Then at some point when time permits,Restore it.

Says 12 volt on it. Ford didn't go to 12 volt until 1956. I'd put it at late fifties to mid sixties.

Been looking online for more info on these machines and haven't found much. Maybe I'm not putting in the right keywords or info but it's scarce.
Fordcragar, that link takes me to a yahoo acct. I'm at work now and can't get into it. I'll try later though. Thanks by the way.
So, if anyone had any other links. I'd appreciate the help.

I used to have one of those in the 80's. I figured it was from the 50's. In the 60's, scopes became the norm. Most of it didn't work and with no parts available, I set it out on the curb. Some guy took it and asked me if it worked and I said "maybe".

If you go to Yahoo and look or search for their groups, you should be able to find it; which you'll have to create an account to access them. But after you get signed up, you'll be able ask questions and get answers via email if you choose that method of access. If you're still having trouble, send me a PM with your phone number and I'll try to help.

Wow! That is one sweet find, whether it all works or not. When you have something like that in your garage it definitely makes it feel like a shop.

I have a Sun 1115, that I hook up to several of my cars. You don't need anything that big for the newer cars.

It is not the SIZE that is important, it is the ignition system. All Sun 'scopes ASSUME you have a distributor and ONE coil. I haven't seen that combination in over 20, maybe 30, years !
