I have a chance to buy this. I was thinking it was an earlier style with the cool Sun Diagnostics logo, but it looks newer. Think this is worth $50? Shows a little wear and is missing one of the handrails along the left side. I haven't seen in it person yet. Still kind of cool.

They are strong but I think it I jumped on it, it would not be much account. Doesn't look that sturdy. But its a good buy and I would get it.

I think it is a good buy and it is definitely sturdy.
One use from SUN was to plant the masive MCM 2110 Engine tester on top of it.
And that rack weighs at least 120 kG.
And sorry for the following hijack.

I know, because I have one, completely overhauled and with all cables and manuals with it. I will happily sell the whole machine for US$ 1200, but buyer must pick it up here in Sweden. I have desparately tried to find it useful, but I realize now that it will require a steady flow of work on pre 1995 cars to be useful. I have tried it out on a MB190E and a 420 SE, works perfectly.
Please PM me for details. Send me an email and I will return photos.

Good cart. I've got one under my Sun machine. Mine has a cubby in the back and on each side, which eats up room and makes it somewhat inefficient for storage.
I keep distributor parts in mine, and the instructions.

The earlier Sun logo decal is available. Do a websearch for Sun distributor machines... I think the company is called Paragon.

I paid more than $50 for mine, and the paint doesn't look nearly that good.

I have two of the older model carts. Believe they are from the fifties.

The Sun logo isn't a decal, it's painted on.

Look through my old post to find a website that sells sun cabinets and decals.

I have a cabinet just like RivennHewn's. The logo doesn't have the word "Diagnostic" on the upper part, just the "Equipment" on the bottom. I haven't examined it close enough to tell if the word was rubbed off or was never there. I'm pretty sure that the cabinet had a distributor tester on it from the factory.

I know of at least three different Sun logos. The one like RivennHewen's is from the 40's and 50's. Later there was a simpler stick-on label like on my Sun 500 distributor tester, and finally the one shown in the OP's photo.

I have one without the "Diagnostic". It is the older style, from the '40's or '50's, with the Art Deco handles and cubbys on the sides. I believe that mine had a distributor tester on it based on the location/size of the holes in the top. I am beginning to think that Sun left off the "Diagnositic" during a time period, Probably later rather than sooner.

I picked up a Sun 500 distributor tester the other day, which included the manual, mounting adaptors, and even the spring scale for measuring point spring tension! It came with a beat-up 720 analyzer scope and a VAT tester that is pretty weathered. The 500 is in good shape and functions perfectly. The only cosmetic problem is that something fell against the housing near the vacuum gauge and broke the plastic housing for the lens. The lense is OK, but I would like to find a replacement part.

I put a piece of 3/4" plywood on top of mine about 15 years ago.
Love it! Probably remove my plywood and add metal someday.
They are plenty strong. I added a medium vise to mine.
Pics later.

It looks sturdy and useful. It is probably worth the $50 if there are no servicability problems with it.
The "cool" factor is worth nothing. The decals on it are worth about 50 cents.
If you need something like that to get work done, get it. If you want it to impress people with the decals, you lose.
