Vintage Sun Portable unit. I suspect this is a unit to teach buyers how to use their machine?
Under the plexiglass has a distributer cam, Points, etc. There are spark gaps under there also. everything adjustable from outside of plexiglass. Attached timing light and probes. No tag or model number (there may have been a sticker on the front at one time.

I think you are right in your identification. It has all the elements of an ignition system, and allows selection of any combinations of faults. I seems to be an excellent training aid.

Since it was a training aid, or salesman's demonstration tool, it makes sense that it has no data plate or model number. Perhaps there is something inside the case that will help identify it.

Based on the photos, it appears to be an item made in limited numbers, almost a prototype. This would make sense if they only produced 50-100 of these. It wouldn't be worth the expense of tooling up to make them "pretty."

Nice pick! I'll bet there are not many of these left!

Yes, it's an ignition simulator. Primarily used as a customer training aid or for sales demonstrations. That one is in nice condition.
