Hi I'm new to this forum, Just registered. I've got an old sun cwb-1742 wheel balancer on the farm that quit working, now when I hit the start button it starts to spin for a second then kicks out, and SL flashes on the right hand display. Can't seem to find much info on this balancer, tried calling snap-on and they weren't much help. Said the guy that would know anything retired in December of 23. Hoping somebody on here has had this problem and figured out how to fix it. I've checked a few things, the motor start capacitors and the reversing contactor check out ok. Just need to know what SL means then i could check that circuit or component. Thanks for your time.

Maybe @SilverJimmy can help. No guarantee’s, but I’ll toss him under the bus anyhow. 😁

Welcome to the joint and good luck on a fix.

1-800-CALL-SUN is all I got! If it’s an actual made by Sun balancer I don’t have any experience with those. Our Snap-On balancers were made by a division named “Balco” (Balancer Company) and that division morphed into Snap-On Diagnostics in the mid 90’s. I believe the new balancers are made in a division out of Italy these days, but I am outta the loop. Hope that helps. Have a great 4th of July!

Hi thanks for responding, I tried calling Snap-on already they said that there isn't any info for this balancer anymore, was told there was a guy that probably could tell me what SL meant but he retired in December, was thinking about calling back to see if anybody would be willing to ask him and get back to me? This balancer was originally made by sun electronics, was first produced in 1981, then snap-on bought sun.

There's a few Facebook groups for Sun products and they have ex SUN technicians in them.
