So this is what I'm working out of now that a shipper destroyed my epiq... But it is surprisingly nice. I got the textured black with the edge guards. Classy color great finish. Drawers are smooth. The casters leave something to be desired as they kind of just clunk around on the concrete and seem like they will be the first part to wear out. The handle is also a bit chincy and I will be adding a doubler to its mounting location. Here are some pics.8f13702dd2d6de2482982ae9ed163570.jpguploadfromtaptalk1453234461465.jpguploadfromtaptalk1453234473570.jpguploadfromtaptalk1453234484920.jpguploadfromtaptalk1453234498780.jpguploadfromtaptalk1453234511959.jpguploadfromtaptalk1453234525678.jpguploadfromtaptalk1453234538253.jpg

What happened to the epiq? Did you get to see the carnage?

I worked out of it until the shipping company completely shrugged off liability for dropping it off the lift gate. It wasn't completely destroyed but not something I wanted to work out of everyday. I sold it to a member here. It makes me sick. RL carriers can sit on one.

And you let them get away with that? Doesn't their insurance or something cover that?

That stinks, I thought you were waiting for a replacement to ship. Didn't mean to drag up a demon from the past.

Good luck, they don't want to listen. Tried telling several that but they don't listen.

That's a sharp looking box.

I was really tempted to get one of the Sunex 8057O or P cart/boxes during the last Sunex cash rebate sale.

Hope it works out well for you.

Nice cart/box.

You are on the money geartow.

Of all the mechanics and fabricators (close to 200) that i've worked with, the very best & most productive of them ALL had the smallest boxes in the shop.

Several years ago I got a back Cornwell cart that's very similar to the sunex pictured. It holds 97% of what tools I regularly use. If I was starting out the sunex/homak cart is what I would run with. The cart along with a wallocker to hold seldom used specialty tools and blow molded cases would be a fraction of what a large rollaway would cost and serve you well.

It is a better value than a the epiq but far from the better box. I did pay cash tho so that has value and I have money to put towards my wedding from the sale of my epiq. I will regret not upgrading the casters prior to filling it up but i was tired of working out of tupperware.

It's a $50 rebate right now.

If you don't mind me asking what kinda money do those go for

$570 ish from ntxtools. They are excellent to deal with buying these bulk items.

I bought the HF 44". As an amateur working out of a single car garage I probably shouldn't get more boxes. :)

Did you lose a lot of square footage?
And did you reduce the number of tools in the box as a result?
What got the axe?
What stayed?

lost the house and moved into the tool shed.

Most of the necessities stayed, I could fill up 2 easy. I do have my most used stuff in there but I have a ton of hammers that are still in tupperware, my paint gun and accessories are in another cart. I have a lot of tools for laying out sheetmetal that will need to find a home. I really need to add a side box but I'm not sure if that is a a wise option on the factory castors. I might get a simple toolcart to carry my lesser used items. I've been eyballing some of the options from grizzly, mainly because I like the color lol. This or this

Nice looking roll box. Better than red. Lol.
I think a lot of the advice tossed in this thread is sound. I am lucky, and have an issued box. I had a service cart when I had to supply my own. It did most of what I needed it to. Most people shouldn't have a problem fitting the stuff they actually use into a box like that.

At work, most of what I use lives on a cart, and in my road box, which is an old metal Craftsman unit. Surprisingly little for a fleet mechanic.

I see the squeezers, but I don't think I've ever seen so few clecos. I take it you don't do a lot of sheetmetal ;)

I've got 300 1/8 and 300 3/32 and a handful of long reach. The bulk of the clecos are in Tupperware still. My sheet metal fabrication stuff got cut from the main box.

I lost a lot of square footage. More than a lot. I only put high use tools in it for specialty I dig through my storage containers.

I did one mod tho, i was always forgetting to lock the drawers just added a spot of paint.f33b90ec3f302353e6d3a30d5aa49304.jpg
