In the last 4 months, I've had 3 of the 3/8" drive, 15" Sunex impact extensions fail 3 different ways. (Sunex part number 3515)

First one shattered in half when using it on an MG325. :scared: (Didn't keep it nor take a picture)

Second one, the detent ball came out; never could find it.:willy_nil

Third one, the dentent ball is stuck in the downward position and won't spring outward anymore.:dunno:

Is anyone else seeing the types of failures in daily shop use?
OTOH, I haven't had a single failure of any sunex impact sockets and they take a beating in the shop.

Anyone know a usa manufacturer of a 15" 3/8 impact extension? I really like the size but it seems the 15" length is an odd size and no one else makes it.

Weird failures. I think you should call in to Sunex and show them the photos to see if they can remedy the problem.

i currently have 2 sunex 3/8 impact extensions that need warranty replacement. i've replaced 3 previously, all in the same 4 piece set. they don't hold up well from what i've seen. i also have some impact sockets, and had one that broke (1 1/8"?). i found the square drive on the 1/2" sockets didn't fit well, too tight to fit some tools.

Give them a call Monday Morning and if you can send them the pictures that will help. I am sure they will want that information and they will send out some replacement extensions.

Just curious op did you throw away the broken ext.? (the one without a picture), I am sure sunex would have given you a replacement one.

Thats really odd. You would figure since the sockets hold up so well, the extensions would too. Other then the ball falling out. But yeah their sockets hold up awesome.

I had it in the shop a while after it broke but can no longer find it. Probably got thrown in the shop metal bin during a clean up. Sure wish I would have kept it now.

Also, these were in a set of sunex extensions I purchased.

Had bad experiences with those hog rings wearing out...have a set of snap on 3/8" impact extensions that I can put a socket on and turn it any slight bit bellow parallel to the floor and the socket will just fall off. Just my experience.

call Sunex customer service. I think they're in South Carolina. I once had a defective socket out of the box. I called them, was advised to email a picture of the defective socket and they quickly sent me a replacement.

However, good warranty service provides you with a lifetime of failed tools. I think you need to switch brands since so many have failed already. Perhaps Proto or since you're using a MG325, try a Snap on Extension.

I've replaced them with some wright tool extensions. Still, no one seems to make the 15" extension except Sunex.

Just to follow up on this old Thread from last year.

I contacted Sunex a while back about the two broken extensions and sent them two pictures I had of them.

Within a week, I had two new Sunex extensions; did not have to return the broken ones.....
