Anyone have them? Yay or nay? Looking for a set but don’t want to shell out the $$ for a tool truck brand since they won’t be used a whole lot. Harbor freight has a set and I found these too but can’t find a review of them. Thanks in advance.

I hear the HF locking extensions' set screws (that hold the whole "locking" mechanism in place) work their way out, it's caused me to shy away from them for automotive use.

Is there a reason you need the locking function in particular? Personally I'd just swing for a regular set of extensions from Tekton or a similar brand, especially if they just need to do regular extension stuff.

The HF ones are stout. I tossed a bit of loctite on the set screws it's not a big deal imo

I guess a few times of knocking the socket off on the way out of a tight spot and having to play “find the socket” got me thinking about them.

I have a few different brands. The ones I like the best are the Craftsman. Not because of any reason other than the release tab is much smaller. They will fit in tight spots.

Just something to think about: Plenty of 1/4'' sockets do not have detents, so make sure if you're getting those size extensions to check your sockets first. You could make some detents, but that's going to eat up some time depending on how many detentless sockets you have...

If you try harbor freight ones, pull easy of them off the pack and see if they actually work using a socket preferably or other extension. I bought a set and if i recall, only one of them worked properly, one worked so-so, and none of the others worked at all. I could pull mine off of the socket easier than a good non-locking extension, and this was the case for all of the stock in my local store.
