I realize the vast majority here have purchased and are satisfied with their HF shop press, but has anyone seen/used one of the newer USA made Sunex units? Any info about them such as who they're using for production? I keep looking at them and debating purchase. Prices aren't unreasonable for a new domestic welded unit and unfortunately, while i'd like to save money and buy used, my local area is flooded with people trying to get $200 for HF/HF copies.

HF is hand pump, Sunex is air power.

If you use it rarely, I'd go with HF press.

Sunex also has a hand pump model. Eric the car guy on YouTube has one. You can see it in action during his transmission rebuild videos

They look to be the same as the Arcan units Northern sells. The simple 20 ton model with a bottle jack is heads and tails above the HF unit. I have a HF unit because I needed a press now. It got the job done so I have to give it that, but it is a ****** pieces of junk when you are use to Dake and Enerpac presses. As soon as I find a deal on a nice used unit, I'm yanking the bottle jack and scrapping the HF press.

Yea I cant afford, or rather justify, a Dake for home use. 25H is something like 2.5 grand. I was looking at the Tucker units as well which seems to be what the higher capacities Sunex and Arcane are rebrands of. I don't know enough about shop presses as to whether the Tucker 20 ton design is better than the more common bottle jack though. Have any input? Prices are pretty similar.

I wasn't advocating buying a new Dake. Personally I'd love a 40 ton Dake with the adjustable screw, but I cant justify one new. If I was to buy new, I'd look at a 40 ton arcan which looks to be the same as the sunnex or the tucker. I was trying to give an apples to apples of the HF 20 ton to the Arcan 20 ton and the Arcan is so much nicer. Based on this, I'm lead to believe the larger ones are just as nice.

I have an Arcan, but use an air over hydraulic bottle jack.
Very well built and can use manual or air

20 Ton Air over hydraulic jacks can be had for under 100 if you look around.

Edit: this is an older pic, it now has a Torin 20T bottle replacing the 12T in the pic.
