Signcrafter,

I like your adapters for using the cig lighter as a power source. A nice option instead of hooking right to the battery posts. Can I buy a cig lighters plug with those banana plugs? Or just buy them separately, and splice them together?

Thanks for taking the time to show how you use the kit. I have used my kit a few times now. So, much easier not having to hold test leads in place manually. I even used the potentiometer to test out a defective gauge.

Signcrafter, I tested a new relay with your LED circuit, and verified my old relay was just defective. The new relay lights the LED in a steady state, and the LED test circuit worked as expected. I will write this configuration down so I can use a device or motor in place of the LED. Thanks again for your teaching.

Has anyone heard from ArchiesToolShop? I PM'd him earlier in the week about the test leads and haven't heard back.

I emailed Archie asking when my kit would ship. He said that he was going to be out of town until Monday and would ship my kit when he got back.

I think so. I picked up four of them from him but I'm local, so that's nice. I'll send him a text and let him know folks are asking.

I read that for certain tests, you might want to use a switch in the circuit,
and not just apply power into a wiring harness, for example.

Anyone know where I can get a switch that is 4mm banana plug jacks on it?
What's the easiest way to work a switch into this test lead kit?

Use a standard toggle switch with spade terminals and attach the female leads to it.

What's the difference between a 2 and 3 pin toggle switch?

Top switch is single pole single throw--switch is either on or off
Bottom switch is single pole, double throw--center can be off and one side can be forward and the other side backward, or up and down etc.

All pm's replied to. Thanks guys.

If you have paid the invoice, and you have not received shipping confirmation within a day or two, please message me so I can verify it was shipped out.

Thanks Gents

Just sent a PM to get one of these myself. Great deal for a very useful tool if you do any automotive electrical diagnosis.

Got mine in the mail today. :rocker:
Great kit and even better than I thought from looking at the pictures. Now to get a nice Fluke multimeter and a power probe to really make this useful

can the adjustable resistor thing be used to put a load on a connection to see if it will carry a load? my understanding of resistors is fuzzy. I am picturing hooking up the resistor to a hot on a connector, ground it through the ground of the connector. and if I am think right should put a load on the circuit, and you can monitor voltage to see if the circuit can handle amps? kinda like the loadpro leads. is my thinking right?

thanks!! Chris

The purpose I would imagine is for finding resistances.

Sometimes, if a few strands of a wire are good but the rest are bad an ohmmeter will read good because it puts out a very small amount of voltage and amperage and the good wires are enough to allow the voltage to pass through unmolested. So you'll see 0 ohms of resistance on a wire with half the strands cut.

Now apply 12v through a load to that wire. This will allow current to flow. With current flowing you can do a voltage drop test and you will see a voltage drop across the damaged section of wiring that appeared good using an ohmmeter.
