I've been a lurker for some time. I never post but Im trying to spread the word. Not a direct vender of the site.

I had recently checked the oil in my 2.2KB. Upon checking the oil It seemed to me that the oil had a nice sheen to it like metal from worn snout bearings. Mind you the blower did not make any noises or use any oil. Made full boost and never ran hot. So I pulled the blower off and looked around to send it out to be rebuilt. I had 2 options. KenneBell or Jon Bond Performance. Knowing that KB may not do anything with it due to being old I opted to go with Jon Bond. This is where it all went down hill.

I boxed up the blower very well and I mean VERY well. (i work in aerospace and ship satellites and aircraft antennas) So I ship out a pristine looking polished KB2.2 to Jon Bond.

Only scratch on the Blower

So 12 days go by after he recieved my blower I get a call. What I feared the most. My blower case has 3 deep gouges in it and it's not repairable. Jon offers me $450 bucks for the remaings parts that are good (rotors, snout, plenum adapter plate, bypass). I say no thanks and to just ship it back to me. The next day I get another call saying that he just recieved a good case and gears and can do a total rebuild with the new case and gears for $1700. I said that is too much money for a KB2.2 and to just ship me back my existing stuff. I'll decide later on what Im going to do.

Fast forward 4days. My KB shows up at the house. I open the box and first thing I notice is how poorly it was packaged(sorry no pics). As i start to remove the items from the box(since it was now disassembled) I noticed the case. I lay out all the parts and check with my pics and notes to make sure it was indeed my original blower. As it was my parts(everything had numbers engraved on it) I proceed to look it over. And to my surprise this is what I found.

So the case is damaged right!!! Im instantly angry. I compose my self and take those pics^^^ I wait a day to cool off as I didnt want to email or talk to Jon while being angry to keep my cool.

I put together an email with above pics and simply ask how this happened and what he was going to do about it. I get a phone call from Jon Bond just minutes later. He proceeds to tell me it wasn't his problem. I explained that this happened at his shop before shipping. The sticker/badge on the side of the case was in the parts bag and not with the blower during shipping. He then tells me he doesnt see why Im mad because the case is not usable. I tried to explain that whether its usable or not it's not in the same condition and when he recieved it. After a 30 minute convo he tells me that since no money was exchanged it wasnt his problem and he didnt care how well it was taken care of and shipped back to me.

So here I sit with a damaged case and disassembled blower and a car thats down. I just want to warn other people of his shady and very poor business ethics.

A perfect analogy would be if he had an old antique firearm. He had sent it to me(gunsmith) for a review and rebuild. I call and tell him it's unusable. He asks for it to be returned. I take said gun and smash the stock with a hammer and screwdriver before returning it. He calls me angry cause I damaged it. I simply say why do you care it's not usable anyways.

Sorry for the long post.

I'm pissed off about this, and I didn't even happen to me. Can I repost these pics at the Shelby American, GT 500 and SVT forum? A lot of folks there have KB's and this will cause a ton of outrage. You should also post those pics on yelp.

No kennebell has nothing for this blower other than basic bearings and seals. The case, snout, drive gears, and rotors are no longer available. I have a service ticket in with kennebell to see if the case is salvagable or not. I have a local guy that can fix all the exterior damage that Jon Bond did.

The bearings are all worn but everything else including rotors are in good shape. Rotors may need to be recoated.

I'm betting they presumptively started the rebuild and were scrapping the case. Since you are on the SVT forum and posted there, I suggest you go to the GT500 and Team Shelby Forum yourself to share this, since you were the victim. The Shelby forum does have specialty sections for supercharcher upgrades.

Is this for a 4.6? The Mustang forum members will want to know the model, etc. Many of them have a 4.6 or 5.0 as well as a 5.4 etc.

Sa the post at SVT. Congrats -You already cost them some business! It is clear from Jon Bond's replies there that he is totally clueless, and thinks he has every right to return that to you in such horrible condition. He certainly isn't denying it. Keep getting the word out!

I've got an Opcon Autorotor (same compressor as your Kenne Bell) and was going to send it to them for a rebuild. Not happening now. Thanks for sharing your experience.

What a bummer man, awful situation you've landed in.

Put the forums to work for you, and I hope you get a resolution from him sooner rather than later.

I bet that is what happened as well. They probably tore it down and the case went in the scrap bin with a bunch of other parts dumped on top of it. They had to dig it out and ship it all back.

Wow that *****. I hunted down the post on the SVT forum and saw the pics of the 'gouges' in the inside of the case. Seen and run worse on plenty of Detroit Diesels. I would've just smoothed out any high points and put some bearings and seals in and run it.

Sorry you're having to deal with this headache. That's no way to treat a prospective customer's property.

I put it on LightningRodder and at least one guy will not use Jon Bond. He said he was going to and went with Kenne Belle so thanks. Thank you for posting up your experience and hope it works out in the end.

Well after talking to KenneBell for a while today and sending Mike pictures he said that the case is usable as with everything else. So now to get the case out and fixed and repolished then off to kennebell for a full rebuild from them.

Glad at least you'll have your charger rebuilt, ****** that it's at a higher expense because of another business' lack of respect for someones property. Please update when you get it back from re-polishing and the rebuild.

That ***** and what a D-bag deal from Jon Bond. Oh how powerfull of a tool the internet can be though. I imagine when people google search Jon Bond they will undoubtably get linked to one of the many forums documenting this transaction. This will hurt his business as it should.

Years ago I was mistreated by a fairly well known vendor in the off-road lighting communty. I started an honest thread just stating my experience and to let possible consumers know of the shady service I received. Five years later that vendor contacted me directly to ask what it would take for me to take the thread down stating it was the first thing that popped up on google when his company name was searched and he estimated it had cost him tens of thousands in potential sales over the five years it was active. That thread was only on one single enthusiast forum by the way.

The internet is a powerful tool!

I read the long thread at SVTperformance, and all of Jon Bond's replies, and this is my post there:

"Pictures speak a thousand words.

There is nothing Bond can say that can overcome those pictures. The OP sent in a well cared for part that was in excellent condition, and it was sent back aesthetically and literally destroyed. No owner of a car with a supercharger would ever send it to him after seeing these pictures.

And why doesn't Bond get the simple fact that we care what our stuff looks like? We spend thousands of dollars for "accessories" whose only purpose is to make our cars look better. I love my car and everything about it - and love all the shiny polished billet all over the place. If someone was to destroy the appearance of part of my car - and especially the supercharger which is a central focus on top and in the middle of the engine bay, they are destroying my time and care and all the love and effort I put into that car.

John Bond has demonstrated such appalling ignorance about his customer base and what they value. I am shocked that he manages to stay in business. Worse, he has the audacity to post here and blame the OP for the condition of the supercharger, as well as express impunity that the OP would even care about it since in Bond's estimation, it was unusable anyhow.

Jon Bond had the opportunity to make this right. He blew it. Monumentally. Focusing on customers needing to show him respect means his business is running on his needs and possibly his insecurities. That requires customers to read his mind because it is not about the customer or the quality of the work, it is about whether you have given Bond the respect he demands. That may work in a Marine Boot camp, but no way it will work when someone is paying you money to do something.

After reading through this entire thread, as well as the one at garage Journal, I am starting to believe that the supercharger was intentionally destroyed in retaliation for the OP not giving Bond the business. And as I said - pictures speak. And the pictures tell me someone was pissed off and wanted to destroy something. No way that happened in shipping - especially the badge.

If I were the OP, I would call the police of Bond's local community, and send the pictures and see if the police see it as a criminal act of vandalism. I sure look s like one. At least that's what the pictures say to me."

Update here.

Been a very long drawn out year but I finally have a fully functional kennebell. I sent it out to KB and in 24hr turn around they had it all rebuilt and back to me. No issues with the case or anything that JB said was bad. Plus had to get the case fixed. Pics of fixed case pre rebuild. Now to get it installed.

This thread and the general story of Jon Bond has to be one of the most interesting reads I've enjoyed in a long time.

All I can say is I'm glad it wasn't me that experienced this train wreck of events. Glad to see that the issue has now been resolved - no thanks to JB

Glad to see this was resolved. You should update a few of threads with the outcome. Will make him look even worse after it was rebuildable.

So many threads, caught this one.
Supercharger looks AMAZING now.
JB looks like they let an 8 year old with a screwdriver, hammer, and a pair of pliers work on it.
Those case marks are NOT shipping damage.
Looks like they took a goddamned crowbar to that one corner while having it clamped in a vice.

$20 says it got thrown in the scrap pile by accident. Looks like a careless employee either way.
