Superglue, Gorilla Glue: Do they ever work more than once?

I've gone through at least half a dozen bottles and tubes of Superglue as well as Gorilla Glue. The stuff literally only works once, then the bottle, tube, or cap are dried up into a useless rock that you're too scared to squeeze too hard for fear of it exploding all over the place. Nothing has ever worked, not immediately capping it, not keeping it upright, not putting it in a ziplock bag. It's like paying full price for a disposable. Anyone else have this problem?

After throwing away a couple of almost full containers of gorilla glue, I found these small tubes. Great for small jobs. I couldn't find them locally but there's several places to get them online.

I use the Gorilla Glue in the bottle. I never open or use the nozzle. Just take the cap off and use a toothpick for what is needed then replace the cap with clean threads. My current bottle has been around for a couple of years.

I have had the best luck with Loctite superglue bottles, they have a pretty good cap system. When I don't do that, I just buy the mini-tubes from Dollar Store and toss when done with them.

You can get single use tubes of super glue too.

I use a bottle of this stuff (gorilla glue) for everything. The newest tubes have a better cap system. You're suppose to squeeze all the air out I think after you open it and put the cap on tight. I've had good luck doing that as well as keeping them in a tool box drawer that stays cool. I normally go through a tube every 1-2 years before it's unusable.

I use this stuff as my fix all for almost everything. Great stuff!

I do the same as spunger1 with gorilla glue, squish the bottle until all the gorilla glue is level with the tip. Moisture/air makes that stuff dry, so you dont want it in the bottle.

Superglue is another story I get that stuff in the smallest tubes I can find. If I have to use them over and the stuff in the tube hasn't dried, I poke a new hole with some picture frame hanging wire.

It must be the humidity that causes problems with Gorilla glue. I live in a dry climate and have never had any problem with it setting up in the bottle.

The bottle I have now is probably six years old and I use a little bit here and there probably every six to eight months. I haven't done anything special other that putting the cap back on it.

The first few bottles of Gorilla glue , I had to throw out after opening because it hardened. I did find if I stored it inverted (top down)I was able to use most of the
contents before it hardened.

No matter what brand of Cyanoacrylate I have used, I have always had great success.

And that success is either gluing two fingers together, or gluing one finger to whatever it is I'm trying to fix!

Coming from the rc hobby I have always used the Bob Smith products (often custom branded at hobby shops). Thier glue comes in ½ to 2 oz bottles with fine tips and caps in either thin (like water), medium, and thick (gel). I have tried storing it in the refrigerator and have found it is fine for long term but as often as I use it, it takes to long to come up to temperature. It tends to thicken in the cold.

Initially I buy a bottle of medium and thin. Unless I imediately need to use the thin for some project, I store it in the fridge. I keep the medium on my work bench. When the medium thickens up I can thin it out by adding some thin.

The tips tend to clog up often, so I keep extras in a jar of acetone which will slowly disolove the superglue.

My $.02

Superglue, I always consider it a one use product. If I get a second use out of a tube, I'm happy.

Gorilla Glue, we have a bottle at the station and I know of 4 times it's been used. :dunno:
