So I need to cut some tile and I found a SuperiorBilt tile wet saw on the local CL. Got it for $150. I put new bearings in the motor and also in the drive head and am putting it back together.

I don't have a picture right now, but my saw is exactly like this one:

But is the blade slightly over driven or under driven? The motor pulley and the driven pulley are two different sizes-- 2" and 2&1/4". I think the 2&1/4 pulley goes on the motor and the smaller one goes on the drive head. Can anyone confirm this?

I wonder if it matters? The new M-K wet saws all have a blade speed of 3450. I haven't done the math, but 2" vs 2&1/4" isn't much difference either way.

I did some math. If I put the larger pulley on the motor the blade turns at 3,881 rpm. If I put the smaller one on the blade turns at 3,067 rpm. I think I'll set it up so the blade turns at the lower rpm.

Does it tell on the tag what speed it is supposed to turn? Usually the amps used and motor RPM are listed. Of course, it may be the MOTOR RPM and not the blade. Another thing you might check is the max RPM listed on the blade. If it is 3500 you will have your answer. :)

Sorry for dragging up an old thread but I was wondering how this all turned out for you. I've got a couple tile jobs to start on in the next couple weeks and after reading several reviews on various reasonably priced saws am not too thrilled with what I've found. Going thru offer up I came across the same saw in your picture at a decent price and wanted to know if you had any luck with a nice finish. My biggest hurdle isn't the tile as much as the glass accent pieces that my wife wants to do a boarder with. I need something that tracks really good in order to get a clean cut.

Thanks, Cam

I have that saw. I haven't used it much, nor other saws either, but I bought it because the table had much less wobble than other moderately priced saws, and the overall quality was better.

Hello, Would you by chance still own the SuperiorBilt 10" Tile Saw?

for glass, if it's painted on the back you want the blade just a bit shallow in the tile. that makes the glass less likely to chip off the paint .

rest a credit card on the table and have the blade just skim it .

I’m in Tempe and have an unknown tile saw you are welcome to borrow. Has not been used for a couple years, so it may need a little tune up. But alwas works good for me.

Much appreciated my friend but this was like 4yrs ago. I ended up buying a harbor freight unit and some really good blades. And after building a better carriage for it to cut the glass pulled off my project like I knew wth I was doing.
